Since the summer of 2003, I have taught classes for the Marshall Summer Talents Academy. Each class took place over the course of a week. The following are some of the classes I taught. On each page you'll find resources used in the class.
Students created a website using a program called Sea Monkey and hosted on FreeHostingCloud.com. Basic HTML, how the Internet works and being safe online were also covered.
In this class, students learned all about video games and created their own using a program called Game Maker. We also worked with a program called Scratch and learned about the history of console video games.
Rather than installing software to edit digital photos, this class focused on using various websites to do the editing and add effects. Students also learned about photography and discovered more about what their digital cameras can do.
Students were introduced to the Python programming language and computer programming in general.
Students learned about the parts that make up a computer. They were able to put together a computer from old parts and take it home!
In this class, students learned about taking digital photographs. The students edited pictures using GimpShop, which is an open-source alternative to Photoshop.

In this class, students learned how to score baseball games and calculate various baseball statistics.
Students were introduced to the hobby of stamp collecting. Topics included obtaining, soaking, and storing stamps. We also looked at stamp design and looking up stamps in a catalog.
